Welcome to the UoS Disability Support Team. We are proud to offer accessible, inclusive support and guidance for students and prospective students, and information for staff members.
The Disability Support Team are here to provide support, advice and guidance for students and applicants who have a long-term health, mental health, neurodiversity, hearing and/or visual impairment, mobility issue or Specific Learning Difference (SpLD).
Our aim is to help students get the most out of their studies at the University of Sunderland by removing barriers to learning, and helping to create an inclusive environment.
We understand that people have different requirements, even if they may have the same diagnosis, and as such we work with our students to create a bespoke Student Support Plan. The Support Plan will make recommendations and provide information to academic staff about any learning support requirements.
We encourage students to register with our service as soon as they can to ensure access to the appropriate support as early as possible.
If you are not sure if you qualify for support please contact us, our advisers will be happy to talk through any questions you might have.
